A Hope-Filled Mother's Day Celebration

Here at Project Hope Alliance, we love Mom. Every day we work to honor the support, education, and promotion of her—for herself, for her family, for her community, and for the kids.

On Saturday, April 30, we celebrated the amazing mothers we serve in a special jewelry-making party featuring Studio SUZAN at our headquarters.

Kicking off the event, DeShaunda Warner, Education Programs Consultant for Every Monday Matters—one of our Bright Start Program partners—discussed random acts of kindness with our moms over lunch.

The lovely group of mothers then worked with Studio SUZAN Founder Suzan Zahedi to make "HOPE" bracelets—one for themselves and another to gift to a mother of a child undergoing treatment at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

In addition to her beautiful handmade jewelry, Suzan also brought the gift of her story, guidance, and mentorship to the table. Having launched her business more than 20 years ago, she found its true purpose while mentoring young girls from Orangewood Foundation. Her craft helped heal wounds inflicted from a past steeped in trauma and abuse, and continues to connect her to other women today.

Suzan talked with them about motherhood and the importance of relying on one another for support. She discussed HOPE and the possibly of not letting our hardships define our future. It was a really beautiful day, and I think our mothers felt a true bond with one another.

After the inspiring gathering, one of the mothers emailed Ana, one of our case managers, expressing interest in exchanging contact information with all of the women in attendance. Saturday served as a shining example of the power of connection and HOPE.

Happy Mother's Day!

It was absolutely a privilege to see our mothers feel so valued, appreciated, and loved.
