We Won A $5,000 Rite Aid Foundation KidCents Grant!

Thanks to our committed and engaged supporters, we have been awarded a $5,000 Rite Aid Foundation KidCents grant as part of the Big Hearts Challenge!

On Thursday, February 25, our CEO Jennifer Friend gratefully accepted the check, which will fuel our life-changing education and housing programs, and our mission to end the cycle of homelessness in Orange County, one child at a time.

KidCents supports registered nonprofits by encouraging Rite Aid customers and wellness+ with Plenti members to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar and donate their change to a general fund that supports kid-focused charities—or designate their favorite kid-centric charity as the beneficiary.

With your help, we received more than a dozen new designations between October 1, 2015, and January 31, 2016, earning "Team Kid" the $5,000 grant award.

With the unwavering support of our community and Rite Aid’s commitment to making a difference in the community, we are able to uplift and empower homeless children by ensuring that they become housed and receive exceptional educations.
— Jennifer Friend, PHA CEO

We recently launched two dynamic education pilot programs: Bright Start, which equips the elementary-age children we serve with take-home laptops, built-in Wi-Fi, industry leading academic curriculum, and inspirational curriculum, as well as Promotor Pathway, a collaborative and long-term partnership between the children we serve, ages 14-24, and an experienced Project Hope Alliance promotor, who offers 24/7 comprehensive guidance and support.

By leveraging the power of our highly successful KidCents program, you have the opportunity to increase your organization’s funding and make an even bigger difference in the lives of children in our community.
