The Second Annual Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival, slated for October 3-5, is an interactive gourmet celebration featuring food, fun, and fine wine. The festival is sponsored by Southern Wine & Spirits of America, and proceeds go toward our mission of ending the cycle of homelessness in Orange County, one child at a time. Here's a look at the festivities.
FOOD // The three-day festival will feature Chef Rick Bayless, the winner of season 1 of Bravo's "Top Chef Masters." Chef Bayless will be cooking up culinary masterpieces alongside chefs Hubert Keller and Rick Moonen, who were also in the battle for Top Chef Masters in season 1.
Executive chefs from 14 of the top restaurants in Orange County will also be taking part. Participating restaurants include Selanne Steak Tavern, Tamarind of London, Oak Grill, Pelican Grill, RED O, and Fig & Olive.
FUN // The master chefs will also be doing cooking demonstrations showcasing exquisite local and national dishes. But they're not the only ones who will be cooking. There will be a hands-on cooking competition that will give patrons the chance to pitch their cooking skills against celebrity coaches such as "Top Chef" finalist Louis Maldonado, and the winner of Bravo's "Last Chance Kitchen." The winner of this epic cook-off will be crowned NBWFF Top Chef Champion.
WINE // Attendees will also have the opportunity to sip delicious wines from some of the best wineries from around the world. In addition to tasting, they will learn about fine wines from famous wine experts.
NBWFF's official launch kicks off on Saturday, October 2, at the Oak Grill and Aqua Lounge at the Island Hotel from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Chefs, sponsors, and other participants will be applauded for their willingness to assist us in our work.
