Childhood memories stay with us forever. When we think back to our own childhood summers, we remember our vacations, days spent on the beach, and all the special times with family and friends. All these memories have shaped us to be who we are today. This summer, our children will create lifelong memories that shape their character.
This summer provides a unique opportunity to educate and empower your child to make a difference in our community, and Project Hope Alliance wants to help. We know that the value of community service can be taught to young ones to instill kindness and the life-long pattern of helping others, so we have put together the Summer Serve handbook to share tools and tips. The handbook pairs a variety of kid-friendly service projects perfect for summertime. These projects will let your family be a part of our team and help us end homelessness for families in our communities.
Children can put together a lemonade stand with friends to raise money and awareness about homelessness. They can support literacy by gathering books they no longer read and donate to our giving library. Families can join us on Second Saturdays to help us at our office and volunteer together. Let's take some time this summer to create memories that will make an impact in the lives of many in our community.
We hope this handbook inspires you and your child. Let us know what you think and tell us how you are stepping up this summer to make a difference. Share your pictures and comments on social media by tagging us and using the hashtag #SummerServe.
